Chapter 7

Farren sat outside on the back porch, reading the Bible, Matthews 6 read, “What you do in secret, God will reward openly.”

She read the passage daily in order for her to stay focused, and most importantly humble. Farren took a sip of the Japanese Tea that she had recently purchased during the last family excursion. Farren cracked her neck and stretched her hands. She had spent the majority of her night writing her little heart out. It was one of those weeks where the kids were acting out due to this being around the time their father passed, and she was having a case of the Blues as well. Kool had grown accustomed to everyone pretty much walking around like zombies once a year, so he spent a lot of time at the club just to stay away.

Farren knew he was there if she needed him, but right now, the quietness and the free room to think was appreciated. She took a deep breath and thanked God for the little things; her home, her children, good health, peace and a sound mind were first on her list. Farren’s life could have took a completely different turn, but it didn’t. God kept His hands on her, and for that, she was able to wake up in a million dollar home and go sit outside and think. She was able to think and smile, pray, weep, and the good thing was, there was no clock for her to go punch. Farren was able to sit outside as long as she wanted to if that’s what her heart desired.

“I miss you, Chrissy,” she whispered to no one, but she knew he heard her.

Life with Christian Knight wasn’t appreciated until after they had separated and he had passed. His power, strength and love didn’t mean nearly as much then as it meant to her now. Farren needed to let her past go. The mistakes and doubt were harboring over her heart and silently attacking her spirit.

She needed to move on. Closure was needed, but it just didn’t seem right. Farren knew that she loved Jonte, but it was in a different way. In some weird wicked way, she had special feelings for Mario as well, and even today, when her lover kissed her goodbye this morning, she felt the love there.

But real love is unspeakable and unable to be squeezed into a box and put on a bookshelf as if it never existed. Farren couldn’t do that with the love that she had for Christian.

Every other day she was missing him; crying in the shower, breaking down mentally and building herself up before she got her day started. Have you ever had to let go of someone? Jesus! It’s the hardest thing to do. It hurts, oh my, it hurts so much. Farren would do anything to feel his love one more time. Just one more time.

She replayed the Adele song, “One” and only for the millionth time wiped yet another tear and continued to read her Bible.
